I have this last week started a new job as David's school as "Hot Meals Supervisor", this is basically dishing up the hot dinners we have started providing. This is just 6 hours per week but fits obviously with the school time table.
Over the course of the week there were 107 meals provided to both pupils and staff, that averages 20 per day which from a school of just over 60 pupils is not a bad take up.
The dinners have been varied and well received; there also hasn't been alot of waste with only a 1kg marg tub each day and that is from main and pudding.Dinners this week have been the following:
Roast chicken / quorn, jacket potato & carrots, apple crumble & custard.
Sweet & Sour chicken / quorn veg stir fry, veg rice, choc & pear sponge & custard
Savoury mince / quorn mince, yorkshire pudd, creamed potato, peas, fruit flpajack & custard
Jacket potato, baked beans tuna mayo / cheese, fresh fruit salad & yogurt
Fish cakes / leek & lentil bake, jacket wedges, peas & sweetcorn, banana & custard.
There has also been bread and fruit available to fill the children up if they are still hungry which has also helped to reduce the waste as smaller portions have been served initially with the option of seconds and then the bread and fruit.
